"AH DUNNO ABOUT BOXING DAY......"

anticant is discombobulated to find large chunks of the burrow archives posted on Google. Big Gogglers are watching us. Look out!

The Queen's proposed 'social compact' between Age and Youth seems very one-sided to me. Apparently the young are to "respect" their elders, who will then be able to "guide" the youthful. Fat chance, your majesty!

And the dear old Archbish of Cant returns from the Middle East, "chilled" to find that no-one there is talking in terms of political solutions. What does he expect? They are all hell-bent on faith-based solutions: 'my faith trumps yours'. That's the nature of faith, and archbishops are the last people to be able to do anything about it.

They are like children, anticant, like children with new toys.

Leaders are so built that when people listen to them they think they are learning when in actual fact they are hearing repetitive age-old knowledge.

When they are tired of verbally biffing each other with their "sacred" books, they reach for their cluster bombs and kalashnikovs.

Religion is the problem, not the answer. "Peace on earth, good will towards men" forsooth!

Come on you lot.
Today of all days - Boxing Day.
Now we want a good clean fight.
The faith in capitalism is but one nasty religion that equalises all value.
Religion as capitalism and the rise of pratalaism.
Anybody in the blue corner?

Dunno about pratalaism, but Zola's a great one for prattle. Reminds me of the motto above my mantelpiece:

"Babble not overmuch, my friende, If thou wilt be called wyse; to speake or prate or use much talke ingenders many lyes".

Trying to post here crashes my Mac. Testing....

Okay, it didn't.

For Nell this must be Kick Boxing Day.

Good wishes to us all.

More to the point, a desire for certainty is a human weakness we must guard against. Was it Bertrand Russell who said something like, "To die for one's faith places a high value on conjecture"'?

jeez-0h, SuzyQ is being helluva philosophical for the morning after the night before.

Suzon: I've told this one before, and I'll doubtless tell it again. Dr. Johnson asked a sceptical lady what she believed in, and she said "Well, I believe in the Universe" to which he replied "By God, Madam, you'd better!"

A relief, AntiqueAunt. I thought you might trot out his dancing dog.

New Year's resolution: Must be grateful for small favours.

anticant said...

"Trot out", indeed! I leave that to Zola's prancing reindeers.

Oh ?
ZoZo's reindeers are on heat, may I remind you....and have foul breath ....both ends therefore are extremely obnoxious.....no prancing allowed.......

As you see the standards are not what they used to be.
