"AH DUNNO!"
Whoops! ben trovato overslept today, and forgot to take down the burrow shutters. Sorry, folks. Zola will be admitted if he wears his Shocking Pink leather knickers, but doesn't brandish them around his head. This isn't Robert Mapplethorpe week. By Order.

Frank Fisher is really Lord Lucan.
Do you think we might persuade him to hire Nanny Hewitt and Nanny Vinegartits? BTW have you SEEN the rude language on CiF lately?
What has that to do with Lord Lucan and (missing)language?
I was more intrigued by the notion of the Nannies going missing....
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.we3ll, thank you for the timely warning about Language on CiF....
Frank Fisher as Lord Lucan - no, no, Shergar surely.........
At the risk of repeating myself...
'One day, long time ago, I was walking home with my 7 year old from school. Very often we would have fun playing word games - you know think of a word, give a rhyme or synonym and see where we end up. Fine.
This day I tried something different.
Ok. Give me what BAD words you know.
She was flummoxed. Waddya mean, daddy?.
Come on , tell me!!
She tried. Ok.
Stupid is a bad word.
Ugly is a bad word.
Horrible is a bad word.
I said ' you know that isn't what I mean.'
Come on. She wouldn't give me anything at all so I tried another tack.
Fair enough, these words could be bad depending on context, but why do YOU think they are BAD?.
She said 'one of the boys in class said that I am stupid and ugly and horrible'.
I said 'Leanne, don't let anyone say that - because you are not'
She said ' it's ok Dad - if he says that again, I will kick his fuckin' arse for him'. She smiled sweetly.
I thought 'she understands language'.'

The first commentator on Anne Atkins' latest CiF post ["Standing by your religious beliefs is not immoral"] called her an 'obnoxious self-righteous bitch'. This comment has now been removed, but still survives in a later comment referring to it!
Obviously dead against Georgina's 'rinse yer mouth out' talk rules I should have thought, and ought never to have been allowed on in the first place. Maybe too many boozy Grauniad parties around Farringdon Street? The whole site just gets more and more chaotic and senseless.
My own thought, see last story, is that language should always be 'appropriate'.
Very often with the Swagman we make comments about the importance of context. Say what you want but remeber context.
The problem with CiF is that the people who decide what is appropriate are probably the Subbies who are working to a set of guidelines that they don't truly understand.
I was sitting at home with my aged mother when an interview with Bush and Blair cam on.
She scowled and said 'He is a lying bastard' (My mother does not swear). Shock, horror. Good on you.
Same as when we went on 'Any Questions?'. I had always listened with incredulity and wondered why someone doesn't say what we all think?. When it came to the bit I preferred anonymity to actually showing that I had balls.
Ann Atkins had posed a loaded question to the audience and no-one had challenged her.
C'est la vie - I will just have to say what I want to as The Merkin.
That is the beauty of the Net.
At least, for now.
