ANTICANT'S FAREWELL

Anticant has decided to stop blogging.

Fools give you reasons, wise men never try.

Suffice it to say that what is embarked upon as a prospective pleasure should not be persisted in if it becomes a chore.

When I opened the burrow I quoted Fritz Perls’ Gestalt Prayer, and I conclude with it:

“I do my thing, and you do your thing.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations
And you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you, and I am I,
And if by chance, we find each other, it’s beautiful.
If not, it can’t be helped.”

I'm sorry to hear that news...will miss you.

Beautiful to meet you indeed, AC.

Without questioning the reasons why, I really hope that you'll manage to send a piece Frank or Zola's way, once in a while.

That was, IMHO, why one central site might have been better. Instead, we got a proliferation of sites as weapons of mass distraction and division of attention. Single sites hard to maintain with interesting things all the time, espcially if you've a life to live off the net. No offence meant, Pike - who may or may not have the time or inclination to read this; together with YD, Swzag, Zola at al.

Guess I'm just, like Suzon over on Pikey's, missing some of that buzz of you all being awkward together, be it polishing each other up or pissing each other off.

Yet then again, I guess the age of melancholic nostalgia is always a surefire stage to arrive with any bulletin board, site, or group of sites. Historically probable, if not inevitable. Where it never actually 'was' how it is often imagined to have been.

But thank you for your 'footprints', especially those indelibly left here.

Anticant.
This is a sad, sad day.
I am so sorry you have made your decision, and I will miss you.
Thank you for all that you have given us........

Thinking........
It cannot have been easy for you, Anticant.
A lot of posts were by their nature offensive to you and, I am sure, distressing.
I feel, as I am sure one or two others may feel, that we have exhausted you.
Personally speaking- I am so sorry.
Guilty.
i am ashamed.
Love to you, anticant.

but for all time ".

Sorry to hear the news, Anticant. I am guilty of rarely (if ever) commenting, but have enjoyed reading your pieces. I really hope you won't disappear entirely.

All the best to you and Ben. Keep well.

Sorry to hear that. Even if I didn't comment much I did enjoy reading your reminiscences and reflections and your comments too.

It should be fun to keep up this up, certainly not wearisome. If it becomes a bore and a chore one has to reconsider for sure. Still, if something within you enjoyed the exercise there is nothing stopping you setting up under a completely different name and trying it anew.

That would be my only humble suggestion. I got the feeling you enjoyed it - at least in the beginning. So, it would be a shame if you felt discouraged by this first-time experience not to persist with it.

Just another thought. It is said that most blogs have an average shelf-life of 6 months. So, I don't think you did bad there. Most bloggers take a break then and set up anew after awhile. Keep that in mind.

You are, of course, always most welcome at The Pond. That goes without saying.

Take care, good man, and stay in good health.

Get yourself back in gear mate
you can drive your car.
You are already a star.

Er. Quite, Zola.

Ignore my previous comment, anticant.

Just snap out it. Continue writing, laddie. It would be a waste not to share.

Sad, very sad. Stopping blogging is one thing, but there is no need to say farewell. Please bless our blogs with your wise head when the inclination takes you.

...and then there was Emptiness.

How do we know you're "raging" if you don't tell us...or have you stopped "raging" ?

Good morning Anticant : A new day in a new month.
Aquarius - let the music play with each and every magic flute that is always in radical rubato and fogue with .......
I want to wish you well but you know me. I always end up on that cactus. No matter.
I just try and keep on truckin.

I, for one, would be most to hear that "different drummer", AC - Rock on - don't blog off !

Richard W. Symonds said...

Try again -

I, for one, would be most interested to hear about that "different drummer", AC - Rock on - don't blog off.

That's it - I think...Sorry, I'm playing a bit out of tune today...

I hear the sound of distant drums........

Hey, Richard - you CAN hear them!!

Richard W. Symonds said...

I can also hear the "distant stats counter" ticking, but the silence of the "distant drums" are deafening.

Keep rocking...

Just taken the dog out - blimey, it's cold this morning...nice though. Good morning to one and all.

anticant's hibernation must continue for the time being, as he has been feeling even less well than usual these past few days, and has yet another hospital outpatients' appointment today.

Meanwhile, all old friends are welcome in the burrow Snug, where the Beadle is kindling a log fire and ben - fresh back from an undisclosed destination - is taking down the bar shutters.

Good comments above, and I have to agree with them. I've missed the Squad over the last few weeks due to an enforced absence, and so it is sad to come back and find you thinking about hanging up your boots.

I do hope you reconsider. It has always been a pleasure to read your posts and comments: thank you for all of them.

Anticant cannot hang up his Boots and Snuggles ( 5 points for the names of the actors in that old favourite).

I think I'm better off doing the limericks, Zola...

zola a social thing said...

OK Bootsy and Snudge.
Now get yer points if you can.

Anonymous said...

I just looked it up on wikipedia. Must have passed me by: I'm v familiar with Barry Took, Marty Feldman etc, but Bootsie and Snudge doesn't even stir any vague childhood recollections. No points for me then.

Richard W. Symonds said...

I'm off to bed very soon, but I thought I'd leave you this - which might be of interest...I stumbled across it because of Chomsky, but you might enjoy it more for other reasons - or maybe not. Anyway, here it is, and nighty-night :

Trousers : Weekly TV series in UK a few years back. Extra clue? "Alf".

Anonymous said...

I'm confused now, Zola. When I looked on Wikipedia, it named the series itself as Bootsie and Snudge.

Minus points for me?

zola a social thing said...

I confused maybe. Alf was the first name of one of the actors ( bootsie).
